Mere Soundarya ka Raaz??

I hate lux. I’ve never bought it and I never will. It’s too harsh on my skin.
But it’s been there for 75 years and if they need to hire the likes of Aishwarya Rai , I guess they’re doing pretty well on sales too.

That’s why I don’t understand why they’re doing this !
I mean, the product is famous enough as it is, it doesn’t need more publicity by having to resort to desperate measures like this!

I doubt the people who don’t buy the product when Aishwarya endorses it gonna be swayed by Shah Rukh Khan thrashing in the tub.
I mean, come ON! Would women prefer to have skin like

hmm.. being famous doesnt mean that its earning revenues.. (u knw lux, but u dont buy it :-))

wt i feel is that they are trying to reposition lux as something that is targeted for women to something which is for both men and women.

bt ultimately the fact remains that the soap is a soap is a soap. medically i dont think tht skins of women and men are different.. its just a prejudice or stereotype.. which they are trying to break and bring home some revenues...

U folks better watch out! The world is like plagues with his die hard fans wont stop at anythint to restore his honor (read notoreity).
But, seriously, i believe SRK was interested in doing it after Juhi did, told her that, the word got around and the ad mandarins at Lux pounced on the opportunity for publicity.
No man's who's worth the name will ever use Lux anyway, but it got us talking, didn't it? The novelty value is back, and iam sure many of SRK's female fans will shift their allegiance to Lux to identify with the bloke.
He's never been the macho type anyway, so he wont lose out either. Both sides just laugh all the way to the bank...

This is only a re-positioning of the product...this time it's tragetting men...so whats the prob?

I think Lux is good...I have used it for years and it's great for my skin...

maybe the admaker thought of breaking the fixed concepts; but its bloody silly to see shahrukh khan ina tub... maybe a little bit of kohl was missing?

jithu: yeah, i don't buy it. But i'm not gonna start now. and anyway, i'm not the target right? it's the men. and what do the men think?? and i saw the ad! eeeeeeeeeks!

parna: nope, didn't see it, but i do like him, in spite of the ad! he's got this amazing something about him. i'm sure he can carry it off, this ad. but is that what lux wants?

rahul: I'M one of his die- hard fans. i still like him, but just not in this gay, ooops! i meant WAY! ;o)

keshi: i've got this crap hyper-sensitive skin, i can't use it. i'm not against the soap really, just that, it's weird him doing the ad. like joker said, it's silly.

joker: i agree totally!

and JITHU, male skin IS different from female skin!! what are you saying??? of course it's different! mebbe it doesn't matter what soap you use, but the skin sure is different!

to be honest.. I kinda found that ad a little too gayish for my taste... I dont know why one and sundry are fans of SRK... he looks like a nepali gurkha...... as for soaps... I have been a loyal user of Camay for years and I dont intend to change....

Sonia said...

injinuiy: I said the SAME thing to jithu! about the gay thing. and SRK may not be handsome, but he's got this SOMEthing about him, his eyes, his mischevious smile, agressive self confidence, yeah he's got things going for him alright, but handsome???! i don't think so.

Keshi said...

lol Sonzz ok - I havent seen that ad....hehe...well yeah I guess a guy going for a soap ad is a bit gayish...cant believe SRK said yes to this lollllz!

Advertising these days is hardly bt the product any more!! I mean its all abt innovative and competitive ideas!!

dwaipayan said...

i agree with parna. atleast srk is giving the add a new twist.a male in a totally female ruled domain. interesting. i'm waiting to see the concluding part of the add. but i'm least bothered to buy that soap for myself.

ok. so i have not seen the ad yet. but seriously, srk in a tub is
a) def not going to make me want to buy the soap
b) make me switch channels, now!

How was onasadya? Do you get all the traditional ingredients in the emirates? I was on the lookout to get myself invited to some mallu family for lunch, but to no avail. I guess i'll have revel in phone-in-onam this time...
btw, now that you've forbidden anonymous comments, cant you turn off word verification? I always get it wrong the first time ;-(

Lux has been associated with women for ages. If they want to capture the male market, shouldn't they have just introduced another brand name for men altogether? Lux's marketing people are doing a lousy job here. Tsk, tsk.

he's bisexual and now he's gone and proven it.

Sonia said...

mirage: yeah, it is. but there is a diff between innovative and ridiculous!

dwaipayan: i haven't talked to even one guy who has seen the ad who said they'll buy it now. and no girl either.

vague: right on!

tiger: you're no tiger, mister! why don't u comment on keshi's blog about her? why do u come here to comment on her?

rahul: onasadhya was FANTASTIC!! will give u details when i get the time to blog about it! and as for the word verification, it's gonna stay, cos i like anonymous comments. they're more honest. it'll take a while though, want some people who have nothing to do here, to get the hell outta here.

abaniko: they really should have done that! like perfumes and stuff right? yeah! they really shud have done that!

nish: didn't really need any more proof, it was pretty obvious already, but now...

Was just browsing thru the blogger when I found your post on lux / Mere Soundarya ka Raaz?? The stereotypical view of using lux or for that matter any other soap for increasing ones beauty is what I’d like to object. To me soap is a dirt remover, when you bath you use soap and wolla! You are sparkling clean.

I object to the fact that any particular brand can change your skin to the one put on by Aiswarya or Kareena… we have to understand that they are beautiful people and that why they are earning 100’s and millions of rupees just for introducing new/old products to the mass. In technical terms we can call them medium of communication, that’s all.

You might have studied in school that humans were apes. And we still have that copying penchant of monkeys. If SRK wears a gold chain with ILU locket the very next day you will have every Tom, Dick and Harry in the near neighborhood wearing a similar chain and locket like that even though if you use your brain and think rationally you will not find a single valid point is such mockery. So now you might understand what actually the objectives of big companies like Toyota (Amir Khan), Hyundai (SRK), Lux (Aish, Sree Devi). So it’s my advice buy soap if you like the smell, the color but don’t buy it because you want to become the most stunning person in the world.

On a personal note, it seems that you are the kind of person who attract criticism, but can’t gauge how much you love them. But the way you are attracting people/comments on to your blog ; is really some thing that is to be appreciated.

Peace.

Anoop: i appreciate the time you took to respond to my post. However, you seem to have misunderstood a few things.
you say the basic purpose of all soap is to leave one clean. but that is not the way it is advertised, and i'm talking with reference to the ads. acc to lux, you'll get skin like the models if u use it (acc to them), so wud people prefer to have skin like SRK or like kareena ? or if they are targeting the male audience, wud the male audience prefer to have skin like SRK or John Abraham? That was my question.
and i do not write for comments. i write cos i wanna talk.
