Wanted to write about how I had gone to the beach three nights in a row.
Wanted to write about how amazing it felt just floating in the water and looking at the black night passing by.
Wanted to write about how nice it felt when my sister kept following me wherever I swam cos she wanted to "be around me, just in case".
But then.
I checked my mail today. And everyone in my gang of ten seems to be getting married, or engaged. to their boyfriends.
Two are already married (arranged marriages, but they're both deliriously happy!)
The others are all getting engaged or married to their boyfriends in the next few months.
There is another one who has just left for Scotland, and her boyfriend is in India. And she obviously misses him badly. And then I read this line that she wrote.
"What's the use of having everything if you don't have anyone to share it with?"
And now I'm depressed.

Sich impatience. And sharing is not all that it's cut out tp be.
Hey your friend seems to be empty if she needs someone to share in orer to be happy. Cheer up, cos you felt happiness just by floating in the sea.
whats the use if you have someone to share things with but nothing materialistic to share... think on those terms and pacify yourself madam... we are all at that age where we have to pacify ourselves about something or the other regarding relationsips... so be it
kahini: i am? it isn't? i dunno. i'm not that impatient really. just that my mum is. she's got the picture of a guy at home. he'sworking at IBM, and the only other info i have on him is watever is on his resume. i say no, everytime. but it's getting harder to explain why.
silverine: that made me feel better! :o) the fact that floating in the sea can make me happy. thank you! :o)
injinuity: materialistic?? i prefer floating in the sea.
give me all you money and bon voyage baby ;-)
injinuity: lol. nice try!
arrey, easy does it. this is the beginning of a very irritating curve. by the time you start hearing of your friends having chiildren, it wont matter.
noooooo! Nish, don't say that!!!! :o(
all those happen happen for good.. :-)
sonia
i know exactly how u feel...
I have been EXACTLY thru that period...
today it is exactly seven yrs that i have been married & all the way it has been compromises, scarifices, not a easy thing to do.
i used to tell my parents "Jab Jab Jo Jo Hona Hai, Tab Tab So So Hota Hai"
wish u all the best....
:-)
ur freinds are just jealous! married ppl suck
Missie..I hope its not the same guy both of our moms are carrying the picture of...i am being pestered abt an IIT IIM, IBM guy too... ;-)..
BTW, there's this guy whom we were trying to offer a job ( another one of those IIT IIM) types...the guy has studied so much that he's gone totally nuts...seriously he's gone insane, the way he talks, the way he walks and he tells us his email id is something@ROCKETMAIL.COM.....
God save us!
well! iam back for a blogging sojourn! About a relationship, i can only hope it works out soon for you. The thought of an arranged marraige freaks me out...
@ zombie: something@ROCKETMAIL.COM ?? somebody stop me!!! ROTFL
sonia, i kno xactly how ur frnd feels. but then as silver said i guess we all need to count our blessings more often...for which i guess i'll be the most guilty :)
lying in the water staring up at a night sky sounds lovely...enjoy it while you do, not thinking about anything else....
all in good time and all that...:)
jithu: i sure hope so! i'm keeping my fingers crossed!
KJ: hmm, all compromises and sacrifices ? and has it been worth it?
rash: whoa! okay! yeah, i guess any relationship you had with them changes, once a person gets married.
zombie: lol! that wud be funny! the same guY! and rocketmail??! you sure have a fun job!
rahul: good to see u back. i'm not even sure if i even want to be in a relationship. but you know how it gets when everyone is oohing and aahing about their relationship when your's just went crashing down the rocks! it's not a good feeling.
lost in trance: well then, cheer up! and go see her or something!
akr: while i'm in the water, i'm so peaceful and happy. i just cudn't be more content. it's when i get out of it the problem starts!
at some point of time in life u MIGHT realise that nothing is worth it...
how easy it would have been!
its like this avial situation...everything squashed up, but still very tasty :)
Hmm, just when I talked about devious matrimony-advocates...
aww Sonzz huggggz!
Trust me most of my friends r getting married soon too, some r already married and some with kids even. I dunno abt u but such things never make me depressed...it's the last thing to be depressed abt. Life is much more than having a BF or a husband...it's actually only a small part of being truly happy.
**What's the use of having everything if you don't have anyone to share it with?"
Well tell me one thing Sonzz...is a man the only other person u can share 'everything' in life with? Havent u heard of marriages getting screwed up just cos the wrong ppl got married?
Don't assume that marriage is the only way to share everything in ur life. First of all u need to ask what does 'everything' mean for u. I dunno what ur friend meant but for me everything in life means beauty of the heart, courage, wisdom and faith in God...the ability to survive in any circumstance without depending too much on Earthly pleasures...cos when the desires and pleasures die, what u r left with is those things.
If a good man walks into ur life then marriage is bliss...if not it can be hell. So enjoy what u have right now with ur family and friends...and mostly with urself.
Keshi.
KJ: hmmm.
lost in trance: ??? really? tell us more!!
rhyncus: yeah, i'm feeling the way u are now, what with everyone having such negative views about matrimony! except it's all confusing!
keshi: i know if it's bad it's gonna be very very bad, but from what they said, everyone else seemed to be having such a good time, which kinda made me think i'm missing out on something. but i don't think that anymore.
akr: i am trying! :o)
Sonia, were you the one floating in the lagoon in Sharjah last friday? We were bbq-ing on the shore. That the lagoon water is rich in nutrients (considering that the treated(?) sewage water from the whole of Sharjah is ceremoniously dumped into the lagoons) Kinda melting pot you'd say?
nope that wasn't me. i wasn't in sharjah.
Having a good time depends on what you consider good times to be...so I think u did get affected by their words...maybe it's time for u to re-evaluate what really is good times mean for u...
Keshi.
